A stain on the American Judicial System
12/9/10 - President Obama - Today Wesley Snipes turned himself in to
serve a totally unjust 3-year prison sentence for misdemeanor tax
violations. In the last 10 years Mr. Snipes has paid over $30 million
in taxes to your corrupt government.
Snipes, best known for his roles in the "Blade" trilogy, surrendered
shortly before noon today at a federal prison in Pennsylvania where he
will serve a three-year sentence for failing to file his taxes.
Snipes, 48, was convicted in April 2008 of three misdemeanor counts of
willful failure to file income taxes (forms - HE PAID ALL TAXES) and
has spent the last two years unsuccessfully trying to appeal the ruling
by a judge who is completely out of touch with reality. The jurors have
said that by reaching the verdict they did, they were convinced that
the judge would NOT sentence Snipes to any jail time!
This sentence is WAY out of proportion to the crime.
I urge you to do the right thing and commute Mr. Snipes sentence
immediately. Letting this fine man rot in a Federal jail is a total
violation of his civil rights and is a stain on the American Judicial
System. Don't let this injustice stand!
